When two theatrical schmucks discover that they can make more money with a flop than with a hit, they set out to produce the loser of all losers – a ridiculous musical about Hitler, guaranteed to close in one night!
Adapted from Brooks’ 1968 movie of the same name, and winner of a record-breaking 12 Tony Awards, The Producers is an absurd, gleefully irreverent, and fast-paced satiric comedy with a boisterous swing score parodying Golden Age Broadway musicals.

Rachmaninov’s elegant, ingenious, and often surprising Third Symphony is bound together by a theme that recurs in various guises and transformations in each movement. This chant-like motto appears quietly at the very opening, scored for the unusual, arresting combination of clarinet, cello and muted horn, giving it the character of a fleeting thought or reminiscence, summoned from the depths of memory. Before long it bursts forth in loud, stern animation and a thunderous, celebratory conclusion, all dark thoughts banished.
‘All animals are equal. But some animals are more equal than others.’
Animal Farm – the history of a revolution that went wrong – is George Orwell’s brilliant satire on the corrupting influence of power. A GCSE student reads the classic novel and immediately becomes absorbed by the action of the animal rebellion. As the story ignites around him, he finds the ideals of the uprising are being corrupted and forgotten.
This visually engaging adaptation, underscored by live original music and incorporating physical theatre and puppetry, will explore how idealistic political...

Interfering politicians once tried to restrict drinkers to spending just an hour in the pub and to close locals at just 9pm, new research shows.
People power in the Stuart era defeated their attempts to introduce these killjoy restrictions, according to a new book.
As people prepare to celebrate the New Year in hostelries, a new book on the history of the pub shows revellers defied attempts to stop them drinking by attacking and swearing at officials and locking them out of alehouses. In many areas this led to the rules not being enacted.
