Drivers warned of debris and surface water on Devon's roads

Devon County Council is urging people to be prepared for the potential of disruption on the county’s roads caused by surface water and debris overnight and tomorrow.

Road users are being advised to plan their journey and take care following the Met Office warning for strong winds and rain.

Gusts could reach up to 60mph this evening and tomorrow morning, particularly on exposed coasts, but the strongest winds are expected to have cleared the county by Friday night.

A leading conservation charity is set to open its doors to welcome the public to a new season of milling following essential winter maintenance to Exeter’s only working water mill.

Based at Cricklepit Mill near Exeter Quay, Devon Wildlife Trust has embraced its headquarters heritage and runs regular milling sessions where the public can watch Exeter’s only functioning water mill turn grain into flour and learn about the milling industry.

Exeter-based KOR Communications has adopted a rare piece of the city’s history, as part of Exeter Library’s Adopt a Book initiative.

Launched by the Library’s Senior Supervisor Joanne Cousins, the Adopt a Book scheme aims to raise funds for the restoration and preservation of a collection of rare and ancient books in the Library’s special collection archives.

Cathedral platform for theological lecture

A leading academic will speak at Exeter Cathedral next month as part of an ongoing programme of events around learning, theology and Christian discipleship.

Canon Professor Elaine Graham, who holds positions at the University of Chester and Chester Cathedral, will give the Cathedral’s Spring Lecture on the topic “Speaking of God in a world troubled by religion”. ExIST event will explore climate change business opportunities

On the 9th March, Exeter Initiative for Science and Technology (ExIST) will be looking into climate change and the opportunities that lie within this for businesses. The event will be held at the new collaboration suite, which is part of the new Met Office Supercomputer building, finished in 2016.
