Following continued success, the board of Ward Williams Associates (WWA) are delighted to announce the appointment of David Carkeek and Kate Mills to support the delivery of their future plans for growth

David joins us from Gleeds following 17 years’ service, where he was Head of Residential and a Cost Management Director in London. He brings a wealth of experience across London and South East residential sector with particular expertise in delivery of high-spec residential schemes. David will lead our London team and focus on delivery across the London and the South East.

Ride the buses of Yesteryear in Exeter

A rare chance to ride on the old buses of Devon General and Exeter City Transport will be available, for one day only on Sunday 19th March. Owners of around 20 preserved buses will be providing rides around Exeter between 10.00am and 5.00pm.

The event, organised by the Devon General Omnibus Trust was originally planned to commemorate the closure of Exeter’s bus and coach station. Devon trade mission Connects with Manchester

A delegation of Devon business leaders has been forging closer links with Manchester during a regional trade mission.

The visit was promoted by Exeter Connects, Exeter Airport’s initiative to enhance and promote air connectivity to the business community, and leading regional airline Flybe, in partnership with the Devon and Cornwall Business Council (DCBC).

The 12-strong delegation flew courtesy of Flybe from Exeter Airport to Manchester in the morning, and returned on the evening fight.

Prime Minister urged to intervene as Devon schools lose funding

Devon's education chief has written to the Prime Minister urging her to take action over the proposed new national funding system that could see scores of Devon schools lose out.

James McInnes has signed a joint letter to Theresa May with colleagues from around the country who represent the lowest-funded education authorities in the campaign group f40.

Devon has been campaigning with its schools, headteachers and governors for a Fair Funding system for years.

Repairs to Exeter Quay footbridge start today

Work starts today (13 March) on repairing the Mallison footbridge at Exeter Quay. Repairs to the bridge, which pedestrians and cyclists use to cross a leat beside the River Exe, are expected to take two to three weeks and the City Council hopes to get it open again by Easter. The City Council was forced to close the bridge last week because of safety concerns after an inspection revealed some rotten timbers. Just before the under 9 and the under 14 squads went out to play rugby on Sunday they were met by Ian Kingsbury JP, the Provincial Grand Master of the Devonshire Freemasons. He was accompanied by Colin Mackenzie, Alan Tonkin, Ian Penny who are all members of the Unity Masonic Lodge in Crediton and have just sponsored the new playing kit for both teams.

Both organisations have a long history in Crediton, the Freemasons lodge having been there since 1870 and the Crediton Rugby Football Club since 1878. These teams must have met during that 150 years, not in competition but in unity...

Devon artist Julie Dunster is challenging you to help her to create a five foot high landscape painting for her upcoming exhibition “A Sense of Devon” which takes place at the Beehive, Honiton from 16th May to 12th June 2017.
