PKF Francis Clark helps organise China trade mission

An Exeter-based accountancy firm is continuing to build international links after helping to organise a successful trade mission to China.

Two partners from PKF Francis Clark, which has eight offices across the South and South West, gave presentations on doing business in the UK to an audience of 140 Chinese businesses.

Andrew Killick, Head of Corporate Finance, and Martin Aldridge, Business Services Partner, were accompanied by Yanwen Huang from PKF Francis Clark’s Poole office who helped with language and cultural translation.

Overnight closure of Bridge Road on Thursday 19 October

Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed overnight on Thursday (19 October). The road will be closed overnight from 8:30pm and will re-open at 5:30am the following morning (Friday 20 October). The closures will enable work on the mast arm for the pedestrian crossing at Glasshouse Lane to be completed. New wildlife conservation areas proposed for Exe Estuary

A report suggesting new areas for nature was published on Friday 13 October. The areas aim to balance tourism, business and leisure needs with the role of the Exe Estuary as a sanctuary for internationally important wildlife and natural habitat.

Advice from conservation experts urge that new ‘Wildlife Refuges’ are implemented to make sure protected birds are undisturbed and have safe places to rest and feed. Estuary users are asked to voluntarily avoid the areas – all year round at Dawlish Warren’s refuge and from mid-September to end of December at Exmouth’s refuge.

This year’s Jolly Good Jaunt is fast approaching on Sunday 29th October. The sponsored walk is guaranteed to be lots of fun and for a very good cause. Much of the money raised will go towards funding the services at Honiton`s Kings House day centre.

The role provided by Day Care is invaluable. Operating on a Tuesday and Thursday, the centre enables patients to take part in a range of activities including crafting and chair-based exercises, a freshly cooked lunch (with veg grown from the garden) and the opportunity to enjoy a variety of different guest speakers and entertainment....

Three jailed following vicious Dawlish robbery

Three men have been jailed at Exeter Crown Court (13th October) following a robbery in Dawlish, where the victim was sprayed in the face with ammonia.

Paul Rowntree aged 36 from Dawlish was jailed for 19 years; Rikki Ward aged 28 from Sunderland was jailed for 15 years 3 months; and Ross Morton aged 29 from Dawlish was jailed for three years for their role in the attack and robbery that took place in Dawlish on Monday 30 January 2017.

Team FORCE all set for the Great West Run

FORCE Cancer Charity will have 144 people running for them in Sunday’s Great West Run.

FORCE is one of the event’s partner charities and is hoping to raise £30,000 from this year’s race.

Oly Watts, FORCE Fundraising Development Officer said: “The Exeter Great West Run is a fabulous event to get behind and support. The run gives for our supporters an opportunity to give something back to FORCE whilst taking on this amazing challenge. Many of whom are taking part for the very first time.”

South Devon primary children celebrate World Space Week

Children from two South Devon primary schools celebrated World Space Week by designing and building space vehicles at a special day organised by South Devon University Technical College.
