Bridge Road in Exeter will be closed overnight on Thursday (2 November).
The road will be closed from 8.30pm in order to enable surfacing work to be carried out and for the last sections of guardrail to be installed. It will re-open at 5.30am the following morning (Friday 3 November). The diversion route will be signed via Topsham Road, Alphington Road, Marsh Barton and the A379. A probation service officer from Exeter has been shortlisted for a major national award.
Laura Greenhill, 47, has been shortlisted for a Butler Trust Award, which recognises and celebrates outstanding dedication, skill and creativity by people working in prisons, probation and youth justice settings across the UK.
The recognition is a result of Laura’s hard work to deliver and develop probation work at the city’s recently refurbished CoLab community and wellbeing hub at Wat Tyler House in King William Street.

On Sunday 3 December, Exeter Deaf Academy student Sam Harris will take on the city’s Santa Run to raise money for his school with THREE generations of his family running alongside him.

People whose lives have been affected by dementia have worked with well-known professional artists to create insightful images and poems that capture some of their experiences, to form a new book.
The project involved people with dementia and their partners who are part of Age UK Exeter’s Budding Friends project and who spend time together on the charity’s allotment or at a local art studio. Leading local advice charity, Citizens Advice Exeter, has raised concerns about an overall 3.8% increase in the number of housing repossession cases listed at Exeter County Court in the six-month period ending 30th September. This is in comparison to the same period in 2016.
Steve Barriball, Citizens Advice Exeter Chief Executive, said: “In the last six-months there were 296 cases listed for repossession, an overall 3.8% increase, or 11 cases, on the previous year. However, there was a small reduction in mortgage repossessions, which were down by four cases.

Arco street performance in Princesshay, Exeter Princesshay and Visit Exeter have announced dates for two large-scale street performances coming to the city centre this festive season.
The first of the two free shows is ‘Arco’, a magnificent fifteen minute display of acrobatics, performed to music from a 12 metre high inflated arch. Three 15 minute performances starting at 5pm, 6pm and 7pm will wow shoppers in Princesshay Square on Thursday 30th November. The giant arch features its own light show, changing colour while framing the amazing aerial performer.
