Four hospices in Devon have warned that a lack of government funding could leave them struggling to recruit and retain nursing staff, putting a strain on funding and potentially leaving vital front line services at risk.
The government have indicated that the welcome recent pay award for NHS staff will not be extended to hospices, a decision which if Devon hospices were to match would present a shortfall of £1.6 million collectively.

The University of Exeter has retained the prestigious Green Flag Awards for its beautiful eco-friendly campuses for 2018-19.
For the eighth year running, judges have renewed the Green Flag status of the University’s Streatham Campus in Exeter. The judges described the grounds as “delightful and a credit to all who contribute to its upkeep and management”.
They also commended the site as excellent, saying “it has been carefully and successfully enlarged to accommodate demand without altering its character or diminishing its beauty”.
Exeter Tennis Centre has been selected as a Local Player Development Centre as part of the LTA's 10-year Performance Strategy for tennis in Britain.

Devon County Council’s East Devon Highways and Traffic Orders Committee (HATOC) have given approval for three new Co-Bike sites, which follows Exeter HATOC’s approval in May for ten new and three expanded sites.
