Devon residents and businesses are encouraged to sign up for the fifth Cycle September in Devon and take part in the annual cycle challenge.

So far more than 1450 new riders have been encouraged to take up cycling by signing up to the scheme. In total, over 6.7 million miles have been clocked up by 7,254 riders since Cycle September first took place.

As Eat Out to Help out comes to an end, Phil Mills, head of food and drink at Exeter firm Old Mill says the scheme may have offered a short term boost, but thinks more needs to be done to help the sector going forward and has concerns that some businesses may have been lulled into a false sense of security by short term measures.

Aer Lingus Regional, operated by Stobart Air, has today (Friday) marked the beginning of its new route from Exeter to Belfast with the first flight due to depart at 12:10.

Beginning today, the airline will operate up to four weekly return flights from Exeter Airport to Belfast City Airport with fares starting from £34.99 one way including taxes.

Work has started to build 380 new homes at Pinhoe Quarry, Exeter.
