RD&E oncology nurse, Katie Williams, is an NHS Hero. Nominated for the award by the daughter of one of her patients, Katie received her certificate from RD&E NHS Foundation Trust chairman, James Brent at a ceremony held today.

Police appeal for witnesses after Sidwell Street assault

Police are appealing for information following an assault on a woman in Exeter. Between 1am and 2am on Saturday 26th January, the 21-year-old was walking alone along Sidwell Street onto Blackboy Road when she was assaulted by a man.

He is described as white, 6’ 1” and between 30 and 40 years old. He was of medium build and had short blonde hair, a small blonde beard and wore a white and red flannel top.

Any witnesses to the incident are asked to call police on 101 quoting crime ref. DE/13/802.

The following areas of Exeter are reported to be busy on the roads this morning, however traffic does seem to be moving:

  • A377 in Exeter around Exe Bridges.
  • A379 Rydon Lane in Countess Wear in both directions from Countess Wear Roundabout.
  • Slow traffic on A379 Bridge Road inbound in Countess Wear at Countess Wear Roundabout.
  • A379 in Exeter inbound from Sandygate Roundabout.

Get ready for more flooding across Devon

Emergency services have been meeting to discuss the heavy rain forecast for tomorrow, Thursday and Friday. This is in response to an amber rain warning issued by the Met Office for the South West, which comes into force from midnight tonight (Monday 28th January).

Further investment in bus services connecting to Exeter

Bus services connecting to Exeter are to benefit from further investment with a cross-city bus service being extended from next month.

Devon County Council is using financial contributions from the Milbury Farm development in Exminster to fund the extension of Stagecoach’s Service B.

Supporters of St Margaret’s School say its low admissions are a result of “falling behind the times".

Comments on a Facebook page set up in attempt to stave of closure claim that not enough has been done to enable the school to compete against tough opposition.

Meanwhile, one prominent local businessman whose three daughters were educated there says St Margaret’s is unlikely to be saved.
