Simply Living mission to take place at Exeter Cathedral this weekend

A special service to commission ten Melanesian missionaries takes place in Exeter Cathedral this weekend at the start of a week long Devon-based mission. The Mission group will also be involved with Holy Ground at Exeter Cathedral on Sunday 14 April at 7.00pm. All are welcome to attend both services.

The Brothers and Sisters from the Melanesian Brotherhood are visiting to hold a 'Simply Living' mission in Plymouth. They will be based at Christ Church, Estover from 7 to 14 April and will show how by 'simply living' out the Christian message we can care for God's world, make peace, rebuild community and share the Good News with those around us. The Melanesian Brotherhood, based in the Solomon Islands, belong to the Anglican Church and live a simple monastic life, undertaking pastoral, teaching and other work alongside local Christians. There are strong historic links between Exeter Diocese and Melanesia.

The Mission will give the opportunity to learn from each others' experiences of prayerful living, peace and reconciliation, mission and environmental issues. Morning, afternoon and evening sessions available. As part of the community, participants will enter into a daily pattern of prayer, Bible study, quiet time, worship and sharing meals together.

The full Mission programme and how to book sessions can be found at www.melanesia.anglican.org or by telephoning the Melanesian Mission on 0845 6081311. Its headquarters is based in Feniton.
