To commemorate the 70th anniversary of the Exeter Blitz in May 2012, Viva Voce created a theatrical experience from interviews with 16 individuals who were between the ages of 6 and 25 in 1942.

Social media speculators double Bitcoin value

The value of online currency Bitcoin has exploded as speculators push its trading price above £600 per coin.

The value of the currency has risen sharply-doubling since last week alone- after attracting attention on social media sites such as Reddit and twitter with the worth of the currency gaining 80 times as much real value since the beginning of this year.

Exeter scholars recognised as rising research stars

Two young scholars at the University of Exeter have been recognised with highly prestigious Philip Leverhulme Prizes.

Astrophysicist Dr. Stefan Kraus and Modern Languages film historian Professor Sally Faulkner have each been awarded prizes of £70,000 for their respective work on star and planet formation and Spanish cinema.

Npower to cut 1,500 UK staff

‘Big Six’ Energy Company, RWE Npower who scrapped the £4 billion Devon wind farm, has announced today plans to cut 1,500 jobs in the UK.

The cuts are the latest development in a series of re-structuring moves which have lead to speculation that RWE Npower may be preparing for a departure from the UK energy market.

On Tuesday (26 Novemeber), RWE Npower scrapped plans to build the “Atlantic Array”, a wind farm off Devon’s Coast.

The plans to build 240 wind turbines in the Bristol Channel had been expected to cost nearly £4 billion.

Men and women in the South West are being challenged to lay off the booze in January to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The charity is launching Dryathlon, its New Year fundraising campaign, and urging people across the West to sign up now before the festive season gets into full swing. Dryathletes pledge to drop the drink for a month and either get sponsored or donate the money they would have spent on alcohol to the charity. Baxter's joy as Yeandle signs on

The RSPCA is announcing a change in the way that reports of lost and found animals are logged. From 1st December 2013, members of the public will be asked to go to PetsLocated.com if they have lost a pet or found an uninjured stray domestic animal.

A car has overturned on the A381 in Kingsbridge between Langworthy's barn Junction and Luckhams lane.

There are severe delays to traffic on this road and moderate delays in the surronding area.

Exeter Guildhall is the venue for Kaleider's current production, The Money, and there couldn't be a more appropriate setting.

Last night 13 "benefactors" were seated around a substantial oak table and an equal number of "silent witnesses" sat on the surrounding benches. This is a unique performance and the cast and audience are the same people. There are no roles or script, the comedy and drama are authentic and the tension is palpable.
