Woman found dead at Orcombe Point

A woman has been found dead on the beach at Orcombe point this morning after an extensive search by emergency services.

Emergency services began searching for the woman late last night after concerns were raised for the woman’s welfare.

The woman was discovered by the Dartmoor Search and Rescue Team early this morning at the foot of cliffs in an area inaccessible by emergency services last night.

She was pronounced dead at the scene and Exmouth Coastguard assisted in the recovery of the body.

The woman’s next-of-kin have been informed.

In a statement from Exmouth Coast guard, a spokesman writes: “Our thoughts and prayers are with the Family and Friends of the deceased at this very difficult time.”
