New community travel fund to tackle loneliness with transport

A new grant fund has been launched by Devon County Council to tackle loneliness through transport. The Connecting You Community Grants Fund will provide grants to projects and organisations to help connect people to activities that help tackle loneliness.

The fund is open for applications from projects and charities across Devon. Grants can be applied for to fund specific transport projects tackling loneliness or transport related activities to enable people to access activities that will help.

Staff, residents, relatives and the local community came together on July 30th at Cumberland Grange Care Home in Exeter to enjoy a Charity Summer Fete held in the home’s grounds to help raise money for the RD&E Hospital Charity – The Starfish Appeal.

Cumberland Grange hosted a variety of activities throughout the day including garden games, a bouncy castle, face painting, a BBQ, tombola, raffle, and a variety of wonderful stalls. The sunshine is out, but it’s never too early to think about Christmas!

Rediscover Church in Northernhay Street, Exeter, each year puts together hampers packed full of food to give out to people in need during the festive season.

We all know during the Christmas season it can be tough on finances, and these hampers are a much needed boost and relief to help people get by, bringing a smile to people’s faces.

A new free and confidential digital mental health and wellbeing service for adults is now available across Devon, Plymouth and Torbay.

Qwell (www.qwell.io), delivered by mental health provider Kooth , will ensure that every adult living in the Devon has access to a choice of support to managing their own emotional health and wellbeing.

NHS Devon, working in partnership with Devon, Plymouth and Torbay Councils, has commissioned Qwell to provide all adults aged 18+ with free, anonymous, confidential digital mental health support.

Volunteers Making a Difference to Bereaved Youngsters in Exeter

Balloons, a charity based in Exeter that provides bereavement support to young people were delighted to be awarded a grant of £1,950 from the Morrisons Foundation.

Thanks to the donation, the charity will be able to train a new group of volunteer Grief Support Workers.

Nicola Clarke, CEO of Balloons said: “We are delighted to receive this grant from Morrisons Foundation. The funding will enable us to train more volunteers, to support bereaved children and young people.”

The parenting company work across the UK to support parents develop strategies to manage their child's behaviour and emotions.
