New bridge installed at Marsh Barton rail station site

A new pedestrian and cycle bridge has been lifted into place as part of the development of Marsh Barton railway station .

The installation of the 16-metre span structure over the railway line, which took place in the early hours of Saturday (26 February) morning, is a major milestone in the project.

Devon County Council has been working closely with Network Rail and GWR to time the bridge lift to coincide with a pre-planned weekend closure of the line.

A local housebuilder has launched a scheme to support youngsters keen to try out snowsports at the Exeter & District Ski Club.

Redrow South West, the developer behind Saxon Brook, Romansfield, and St Michael’s Meadow, has celebrated its partnership with GB Snowsport by creating a £10,000 Winter Sports Fund to encourage local children, and youngsters’ groups and clubs, to take to their local snowdome or dry ski slope and try skiing or snowboarding for the first time.

Software development company Rocketmakers have been crowned champions of the South West’s first region-wide corporate esports festival.

The Bath-based firm pipped 15 other organisations from across the South West to the top spot in a Rocket League tournament, with the Exeter Chiefs rugby team and the Met Office among those taking part.

Future Farming events to help families pass business to next generation

Three events aimed at advising farming families on handing down an agricultural business to the next generation are being planned in the South West.

National law firm Clarke Willmott in partnership with Lloyds Bank, chartered accountants Albert Goodman and chartered surveyors Greenslade Taylor Hunt, will hold the events in Bridgwater, Exeter and Wincanton in February and March.
