Taking the Mic returns for another evening of have-a-go magic, hosted by performance poets Morwenna Griffiths and Tim King.

Poetry is the mainstay of our show but we also welcome comedy, philosophy, theatrical acts and singer-songwriters. Every performer gets a five minute slot to showcase their talent.

Rachel Sermanni, the 22 year old singer-songwriter from Carrbridge in the Scottish Highlands, has a growing reputation as one of folk’s bright new things. Garnering rave reviews including being described as, ‘really, really something special’ by Guy Garvey the Elbow frontman, she will perform songs from her debut album Under Mountains and her new, soon to be released, EP.

Mr Scruff

Ninja Tune producer, DJ and cartoonist Mr. Scruff will be at the turntables for the whole night, serving up a melting pot of Jazz, Soul, Hip Hop, Funk, Disco, Deep House, Reggae, Latin, Afrobeat, electronica, electrofunk and plenty of goodies that don’t fit into any category. Expect fantastic sound, quirky potato visuals and a great atmosphere. Oh, and you can even get a brew!

A Tale of Two Cellos

State of Emergency is a company at the forefront of pushing the boundaries of dance from the African Diaspora in the UK. Created for young people, this latest initiative is an 'in your face' dance theatre production that exposes myths and challenges perceptions.
