Police find body in search for missing man

Police searching for missing Honiton man, Damian Hart, have found a body near Feniton.

The body was found in a rural outbuilding near Feniton at around 10:40am on Tuesday (April 8).

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a file is being prepared on behalf of HM Cornoner.

Mr Hart, 38, was reported missing by a family member on Saturday afternoon after going out to a local pub in Feniton at around 8pm on the Friday night.

Domestic Violence Reports Rise

Police in Devon have seen a significant rise in the reporting of Domestic violence offences in new figures announced today.

The rise in domestic violence reports, of 22.8% or 886 more reports on the previous year, follows from an effort by officers to encourage victims of domestic violence to report abuse.

While potentially a sign that this effort has been successful police have cautioned that, while these figures are only one indication of how the Force is doing and overall figures rarely show the true picture.

Free Easter eggs will be handed out to the first 500 children at Exeter Racecourse’s family day which takes place next Tuesday (April 15). Widely regarded as one of the best free days out for children in the Easter holidays, this year the annual event will feature Tractor Ted and his inflatable bouncy castle, as well as the brilliant Kids Love The Races Roadshow.

NFU: European vote paves the way

A positive vote by MEPs means the Government is a step closer in making key decisions on implementing the next CAP reform in England and Wales, the NFU said today.

Exeter NHS centre to close for two days

The NHS walk-in centre in Sidwell Street, Exeter, will be temporarily closed on Wednesday 9 April and Thursday 10 April due to staff shortages at short notice.

The centre will reopen at 8am on Friday 11 April.

Patients will be signposted to the walk-in centre at Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital or to call 111.

Kate Lyons, the Trust’s director of operations, said: “We apologise for any inconvenience the temporary closure may cause.

“Patient safety is paramount and we cannot operate the service without the appropriately skilled and experienced staff.”

Exeter Veterinary surgery to celebrate 10 year anniversary

Companion Care Vets, situated in Digby’s Pets at Home store, are celebrating their ten year anniversary by inviting 200 of their clients and suppliers to an open evening event.

Newtown's first Cycle Cafe of the year

Newtown Community Association will host its first community cafe of the year on Sunday 13 April.

The April cafe will be a cycle cafe at Belmont Hut in Belmont Park, Exeter and will be open from 2pm-5pm.

The event, in conjunction with Devon County Council, will include opportunities to get your bike checked by a mechanic, low cost reflective/florescent items, and free smoothie drinks thanks to a pedal powered smoothie bike.

Community Police Officers will be present to allow people to obtain free bike security marking as well as advice on security protection.

Restaurants and food businesses in Exeter are being offered behind-the-scenes tips on how to improve their food hygiene ratings.

Exeter City Council is holding sessions on running a food business and how to get a maximum 5 rating.

The sessions cost just £10 and aim to take the mystery out of food safety inspections. The next session will take place at the Civic Centre in Paris Street, Exeter, on Thursday 17 April from 10am until midday.

Exeter MAG have organised a charity Easter egg run to Little Bridge House in Barnstaple. This is a children's hospice centre, and we are heading there to donate Eater eggs.

Bikers are asked to meet at Exeter services at 10.30 on Sunday 20 April with chocolate eggs. There will be a car going to take the eggs in so you don't have to strap them to yourselves!
