Bright vests for bright-eyed pupils

Specsavers in Exeter has helped pupils stay safe at night by donating high visibility vests to a local school.

The store gave the vests to children at Ladysmith Infant School in Exeter to promote safety at night during Road Safety Week, an initiative by the charity Brake.

Deputy head teacher at Ladysmith Infant School, Emma Brown said: "We’re very grateful for these vests; they will be put to good use.

Man wanted in connection with shed theft

Police need the public’s help in finding a man who is sought in connection with the theft of a shed in Newton Abbot in October.

Spencer Bamping, 41, from Chudleigh Knighton, Newton Abbot, is believed to be in the Teignbridge area, although he also has links to South Devon, Torbay, Exeter and North Devon.

Officers have undertaken extensive enquiries to locate Bamping (pictured), however attempts so far to trace him have proved unsuccessful.

Bamping is described as white, 5ft 9ins, of proportionate build, with short brown hair.

£5m confirmed to finish coast path by 2020

The Deputy Prime Minister today confirmed extra funding to speed up the completion of coastal paths around England on a visit to Port Gaverne in Cornwall.

The cash will go towards completing England’s vital coastal walkways by 2020, ten years earlier than planned.

Now that firm bids have been secured for the council’s Knowle site, detailed plans will be drawn up to move East Devon District Council’s offices to two council-owned sites in Honiton and Exmouth, but not to Skypark.
