Powered Now reaches £350k Crowdcube target

Tech start-up Powered Now with its mobile admin app for tradesmen, has successfully hit its crowdfunding target of £350,000 in its second raise on Crowdcube and the pitch is now overfunding.

The money will be used to further market and develop its app for tradesmen and field trade companies, simplifying administration and eliminating paperwork.

Woman dies following Devon collision

A woman has died following a collision near Okehampton at the weekend.

Police received reports of collision between a Vauxhall Astra and a Renault Clio at around 7.50pm on Sunday 23rd August on the A386 Lydford and Mary Tavy, near Okehampton.

A police spokesman said: "It appears that the Clio was travelling southbound and the Vauxhall northbound when the collision took place. The 34-year old female driver of the blue Renault Clio hatchback was pronounced dead at the scene and two passengers from the car were taken to Derriford Hospital.

Princesshay will be hosting the British Heart Foundation (BHF) Bag It. Beat It. event on Saturday 5th September which urges the Exeter community to donate bags full of their unwanted items to be sold in local BHF shops.

Every bag donated will help fund life saving heart research, helping over seven million people continue to fight heart disease. Last year the BHF raised over £130 million from voluntary income alone. As latest figures reveal that 26 people in Exeter died from the asbestos-related lung cancer mesothelioma between 2010 and 2014, campaigners urge for more help for sick and dying workers. Exeter has the 66th highest mortality rate in England and Wales for the disease at 5.5 deaths per 100,000 people. RD&E gets top marks in CQC survey

Children and young people who have received treatment at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital have given the Trust top marks for communication in the first Care Quality Commission (CQC) Children and young people’s survey 2014.

The survey shows that children who underwent inpatient or daycase treatment in the hospital’s dedicated children’s ward, Bramble, felt that they were listened to by staff and that procedures and outcomes of treatment were explained in a way that they could understand.
