Having enjoyed a hugely successful run in Edinburgh with 1972: The Future of Sex, for which they won the Stage Award for Acting Excellence, The Wardrobe Ensemble are now collaborating with The Bike Shed Theatre in Exeter on a brand new show.

Set in the bombed ruins of an Exeter restaurant in 1944 the story follows a daring young girl who discovers a magical golden whisk and unleashes its ancient curse.

As she scurries into the underworld in an attempt to find a cure, Eloise undertakes extraordinary feats whilst being chased by a rabble of gold-hungry gangsters.

Served up with The Wardrobe Ensemble’s trademark theatricality and set in the atmospheric Bike Shed Theatre, Eloise and the Curse of the Golden Whisk offers an original family Christmas show for those age 7 and over.

Eloise and the Curse of the Golden Whisk is the third in a trilogy of Christmas co-productions between The Bike Shed Theatre and The Wardrobe Ensemble.

Tom Brennan of  The Wardrobe Ensemble explained why they are thrilled to be collaborating with The Bike Shed Theatre for a third time: "We are always inspired by the Devonshire artistic community and the buzzing city of Exeter. Our connection to the city and the theatre is deeply rooted.

"For us, Exeter represents vital creative and professional development. It also a place where an intimate relationship with our audiences can be developed both in the theatre and in the bar after the show. For this project, our most ambitious Christmas show yet, we are exploring Exeter like never before.

"We'll be combining a swashbuckling magical adventure with the rich history of the city in war-time."

Describing the show as a ‘modern classic’ Charlie Parker, Executive Producer at The Bike Shed, added:  "There are so many wonderful pantomimes and classic productions to choose from at Christmas.

"What we like to do is create a brand new story, told beautifully and in a style that makes the most of the intimacy of our theatre. We want the audience to truly feel like they’re part of the world on stage."

Eloise and the Curse of the Golden Whisk runs from 8 December 2015 until 9 January 2016 at Exeter's Bike Shed Theatre.
