Families for Children, local adoption agency and charitable trust who cover Devon, Dorset, Cornwall and Somerset, are delighted to announce the appointment of new a new Fundraising & Engagement Specialist, Tracy Ebbrell.

At a crucial time for Adoption in the UK, Families for Children is focussing on finding families for ‘priority’ children. Exmouth police appeal after town centre fight

Police are appealing for witnesses after an altercation took place near The Strand at Exmouth, on Sunday the 31st January at around 2pm.

Detective Sergeant Pete Boorn said: “We are currently investigating an alleged fight that took place outside The Strand in Exmouth.

"While one man has been charged in connection with this incident, we believe that there were a large amount of witnesses present who could help police with their enquiries.

“We are therefore asking anyone in the area who witnessed the incident to come forward to the police. Please make yourselves known...

Half-Term Inside Out film screening

This February half-term, local brain injury charity Headway Devon will be hosting a film screening of the Disney hit Inside Out .

Taking place at the XCentre by Exeter Quay on Tuesday 16th February, this event promises to be a great way to keep the kids happy without breaking the bank.

Exeter School alumnus enters record books

1995 Exeter School leaver Ian Williams has entered the record books as the first skipper to win sailing's World Match Racing Tour title six times.

The former Senior Prefect and Captain of Hockey, and GAC Pindar sailor previously won the title in 2007, 2008, 2011, 2012, and 2015, beating his own record when he won the title for the fifth time last year.

Ian won the Final of the Monsoon Cup on Saturday 30 January, and extended his record as the most successful match racing skipper in the history of the World Match Racing Tour.

Blue Chip Holidays has announced that 2015 has been its best year of trading to date, with the number of guests up by over 17.6% and revenues up an additional £2.15 million by 14.5% from £15.2 million in 2014. The Devon based UK holiday operator has also started 2016 in its strongest position in its 14-year history with forward bookings for guests arriving in 2016 up by 26.9% and revenues up by 28.8% year on year. Zoe donates birthday and Christmas presents to help beat the boredom on Bramble

Zoe Drew, 22 from Sidmouth, has donated box-loads of toys and games to Bramble Ward at the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital to help entertain young patients.

This year, instead of asking for birthday and Christmas presents from her family and friends, Zoe asked for gifts that could be donated to the children’s ward to help patients beat the boredom whilst in hospital.

Zoe said: “In August 2014 I had an illness that led to me being in a wheelchair. I’ve spent the last 17 months coming in and out of hospital, so I know how boring it can be in here.”
