The Exeter City junior supporters club, The Red Army, awarded their player of the year trophy to Jamie Cureton before Saturday's match against Cheltenham. It's the second time the striker has won the award from the youngsters, having topped the voting during his previous spell with city a couple of years ago. Red Army membership is open to newborns right up until the age of 18.

In addition to staging activities, members receive the Red Army magazine which is issued every quarter. The magazine contains puzzles, competitions, stories, articles and loads of other great stuff...

City boss looks ahead to visit of Cheltenham on Saturday

I’d like to go into the last game of the season with it being a must-win game as well, and we’re getting very close to that now." Paul Tisdale

With Bradford City losing at home to Rotherham United in midweek, Exeter City go into this weekend’s game against Cheltenham still in with a great shout of reaching the play-off spots.

And Grecians boss Paul Tisdale is grateful that the Millers have done City a favour – but knows full well that they have to concentrate on their own efforts, rather than thinking about...

Youngster named in select XI on full debut

Exeter City youngster Jamie Reid was voted into the npower League 2 Team of the Week after a successful first start for the Grecians.

Reid was something of a surprise selection in the starting XI when Exeter travelled to Kingsmeadow to face AFC Wimbledon.

However he vindicated the trust of the backroom staff by turning in a mature performance, which was capped with two great goals to twice give the Grecians the lead.

Regrettably City were held to a draw, as the Dons levelled twice through Luke Moore – who was also...

Groundsmen Clive Pring has reaffirmed that this afternoon's Exeter City v Rotherham game will go ahead.

A number of matches in local Saturday and Sunday leagues have been called off across Devon due to the recent wet weather. However the St James' Park pitch and its state-of-the-art drainage system remain clear of water. The rainwater drains from the pitch quickly, meaning that the water does not remain on the playing surface and therefore preventing any waterlogging. However supporters are being urged to check local travel information before traveling in to ensure a safe and hassle-...

Exeter City manager Paul Tisdale has declared his side up for the cup as he prepares his side to face Bury this Saturday (3pm) at Gigg Lane in the first round of the FA Cup.

Tisdale believes the distraction of the FA Cup could kick-start some form for the Grecians.

He said: “A cup draw is only a good cup draw once you have won it and a bad draw once you have lost it.

“It is a game away from the league programme and I suppose both ourselves and Bury have not had a great run recently. I think we will both be using this for a kick-start for some better form and better...

What a difference a week can make. Subdued seven days ago by Aviva Premiership newcomers London Welsh, Exeter Chiefs returned to winning ways by claiming the prized scalp of Saracens in an attritional battle at wet and wild Sandy Park. Nine points from the boot of Argentine marksman Ignacio Mieres, plus a second half try for Fijian centre Sireli Naqelevuki, proved sufficient enough to down the Londoners, who replied with three penalties of their own from England international Owen Farrell. It was just reward for the Chiefs, who after successive away-day losses at Northampton Saints and...

Tisdale praises team spirit despite loss against Southend

Paul Tisdale was quick to praise his team’s spirit despite losing an encouraging unbeaten run to resurgent Southend on Saturday. Scot Bennett’s 51st minute goal was wiped out by late strikes from Barry Corr and Freddie Eastwood and despite this setback, Exeter remain in the third (and last) automatic promotion spot. Speaking after the final whistle he stated: “I’m bitterly disappointed we lost but taking an objective view and I thought we played really well and looked a very competent team. “The players are irritated about the fact that they got away from us to score that goal from a...

O'Flynn's late goal earns Grecians a valuable point

On a dull and overcast afternoon the football did little to brighten things up as City scraped a 1-1 draw against York City with a late equaliser in front of 4092 supporters. City lined up: Krysiak; Woodman, Baldwin, Coles, Amankwaah; Davies, Bennett, Oakley, Sercombe; O'Flynn, Cureton. It took a full fifteen minutes for City to weather York's near dominance of the opening exchanges and carve an opportunity, but as would be the case so often during the afternoon, in the end it amounted to very little. It was a very valuable point that on another day could have been all three, however that...
