Tisdale has made a point about focusing on the sides defensive responsibilities in this week’s training following last weekend's 3-0 defeat to Northampton and Tisdale is hoping to see a marked improvement on Saturday.

The City manager said: “It’s something we do weekly anyway but I suppose its had a bit more of an emphasis and a focus, there are so many things to work on each week, you can't work on them all but defending its quite a...

City's poor recent run of results continued as they succumbed to a 3-0 defeat at the hands of a clinical Northampton Town side at Sixfields this afternoon, writes Andrew Morris.

Northampton's powerful and direct approach triumphed over City's short passing game in a match littered with niggly fouls and yellow cards.

Positives for City were the valuable game time secured by Bennett, Gow and Sercombe. Fans will be hoping that all three are in contention for the visit of Chesterfield next Saturday where Tisdale's side will be searching for an improvement on today's...

Paul Tisdale’s preparations for Saturday’s trip to Northampton (3pm) were given a boost this week as Scot Bennett returned to training with the first team squad.

When the midfielder was stretchered off against Bristol Rovers 13 days ago fans and management feared the worst but scans showed just heavy bruising – much to the delight of Tisdale who told the local press that Bennett could return to action at Sixfields.

“He is back training and Scot has been told that there is no serious damage and he can go back through the pain he has,” he said. “It is a case of him pushing...

He added: "I think they are the most...

Scans have shown that Exeter City midfielder Scot Bennett didn’t suffer a serious injury against Bristol Rovers and will only be on the sidelines for a few weeks.

The worst was feared when the 21-year-old was stretchered off against Mark McGhee’s men six days ago but a relieved Paul Tisdale filled us in on the results of the scans.

“The scans proved to be positive,” the City boss said. “He hasn’t got any serious injury, just bad bruising and it will be sore for a number of weeks.

A goal in each half from Jamie Cureton helped City get back to winning ways at Underhill last night.

The 37-year-old composed himself before pulling the trigger on 37 minutes to fire the Grecians into the lead before nodding home Tommy Doherty’s perfect cross to finish off a great move. City, with the patched-up midfield duo Doherty and Matt Oakley excelling, controlled large parts of the second half but had to fight for the victory after Jake Hyde nodded home but held on for a very satisfying three points. City boss Paul Tisdale pulled a selection surprise by handing a first City...

So what do I write about for my difficult first blog?

So, my first ever blog. After much procrastination, excuse making and general displacement activity I’ve actually sat down and written something! If I’m honest, it’s all a bit scary. I’ve got no ‘blogging’ experience and yet I find myself sat in front of the computer typing as if I know what I’m doing.

So what’s needed in a first blog? I guess that you need to know something about me? The first hurdle – fundamentally I have no idea how to describe myself. In a desperate attempt to answer this (and in true lonely hearts fashion) I turned to my friends and asked them for three words...

Tisdale has lots to think about after home defeat

It was in front of the biggest home gate of the season of 5,454, that Exeter City handed their Westcountry visitors Bristol Rovers both goals on a plate in a poor 2-1 home defeat.

Back-to-back defeats for the first time this season see City slip to fifth in the table and if they play like that much more it won't be long before they slip further.

Far too often the ball was needlessly given away with sloppy passing or simply hoofed up the pitch for someone else to take responsibility when it was crying out to be played on the floor either out wide or around the giant Rovers...
