Project explores travel habits in Exeter

A project to update the transport strategy for Exeter has been examining the main findings from its initial work over the last six months.

The Exeter Mobility Plan recently held its second stakeholder event to explore its data which has highlighted that the majority of Exeter residents do not drive to work and, encouragingly, 55% of trips of less than 5km in Exeter are made either by walking, cycling or by bus. Lightfoot joins Exeter City Futures network and launches further local beta devices to tackle congestion in the city

Lightfoot, the world’s first connected car technology and platform for rewarding better drivers, is adding a further 100 drivers to the next phase of their Exeter pilot.

The chosen individuals were selected to be given Lightfoot devices worth £100 each as part of a local beta recruitment programme that ran earlier this year.

The recipients of the devices will also be helping the region by enabling City Science to analyse congestion and traffic data generated (with names and vehicle details removed) with the aim of improving Exeter’s transport networks for everyone.

Exeter City Futures launches Tranquil City project

As part of its goal to increase the well-being of Exeter’s citizens through energy independence and zero congestion, Exeter City Futures is launching a summer Tranquil City campaign in Exeter.

Citizens who live in or know the area, are encouraged to come and be part of the movement to celebrate urban calm by posting a photo or short video to Instagram and tag with #TranquilCityExeter.

Go Green with Princesshay Sustainability Day

Following the success of last year’s event, Princesshay is hosting its second Sustainable Travel Day on Wednesday 14th June to raise awareness of its continued commitment to sustainable travel and other environmental initiatives.

Exeter City Futures is facilitating a collaboration between City Science and Lightfoot to offer free Lightfoot devices to drivers in Exeter. One of the biggest problems with modern day motoring is that good drivers are paying for all the bad drivers out there on the road. Not to mention the air quality issues that bad drivers create.

The Greater Exeter area could be generating most of its own energy within 10 years, according to a new report.
