Easter is the time for moving away from death to seek new life in unexpected ways and in unexpected places. In Christian terms, no longer is the love of God confined to the past but rather opens out to embrace the future. Yet there are ways in which the future can be found in the past.

Older cultures remind us of the importance of thinking in cycles. Time is not a linear concept but a repeated experience. This is, of course, the ongoing lesson of Nature and the message of calendars. What goes around comes around.

Simply Living mission to take place at Exeter Cathedral this weekend

A special service to commission ten Melanesian missionaries takes place in Exeter Cathedral this weekend at the start of a week long Devon-based mission. The Mission group will also be involved with Holy Ground at Exeter Cathedral on Sunday 14 April at 7.00pm. All are welcome to attend both services.

Diocese tweets the Passion

The Diocese of Exeter has been tweeting the whole passion story, from Palm Sunday, and will continue until sunrise on Easter Sunday. The story has been rewritten for tweeting in the first person and from Jesus’s perspective and will be sent out in ‘real time’ throughout Holy Week. A prayer for those affected by job losses at Axminster Carpets

A prayer has been written to be said in Devon's Anglican churches in the wake of the hundreds of job losses caused by the collapse of Axminster Carpets. The historic company went into administration this week, announcing 300 job losses. Bishop Michael is asking all clergy to pray for those who have lost their jobs this week in Axminster and Buckfast, and also for all those affected by unemployment at this time.

Churches in Axminster and the surrounding area will also be appealing for food for affected families in services this weekend.

Exeter Cathedral's Third Millennium Campaign receives Royal seal of approval

Their Royal Highnesses The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall have visited Exeter Cathedral for a special thanksgiving service to celebrate the success of its £8 million fundraising appeal.

Their Royal Highnesses spent time in the Cathedral this afternoon (Tuesday 26 February), meeting those who have supported The Third Millennium Campaign.

Royal visit celebrates Exeter Cathedral's successful £8 million fundraising campaign

The Prince of Wales and The Duchess of Cornwall are visiting Exeter Cathedral later today for a special thanksgiving service to celebrate the success of its £8 million fundraising campaign. The Prince is Patron of the campaign and visited the Cathedral in 2009 to mark the half way stage. The Duchess of Cornwall joined thousands of other visitors last July to view the ‘Majesty’ Flower Festival as part of the Cathedral’s Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

BBC ONE’s ever popular Sunday evening programme Antiques Roadshow will be filming for its 36th series on Exeter Cathedral Green, on Thursday, 12th September, 2013. The doors open at 9.30 am and close at 4.30pm. Entry to the show is free.

Three new prebendaries for Exeter Cathedral

Three senior clergy in the Diocese of Exeter have been made prebendaries of Exeter Cathedral, in recognition of their service to the Church in Devon.

Revd Nick Martin, Karl Freeman and Andrew Jones will become prebendaries of the Cathedral - an honorary role, recognised throughout the Church of England, which makes them a part of the College of Canons, a body which advises the Cathedral on a wide variety of matters at the request of the Dean and Chapter.
