Drunk Driver four times the limit at 11am

Over 160 drivers, including a man who four times the legal limit at 11am, were arrested during Devon and Cornwall Police’s Christmas drink driving campaign.

According to figures released today police officers gave 1,326 breath tests of which 167 were positive, refused or failed to provide.

One man stopped in Devon was found to be more than four times the legal limit at 11am while another stop also in Devon found a 28-year-old woman four times the limit at 4:30pm/

Men and women in the South West are being challenged to lay off the booze in January to raise money for Cancer Research UK. The charity is launching Dryathlon, its New Year fundraising campaign, and urging people across the West to sign up now before the festive season gets into full swing. Dryathletes pledge to drop the drink for a month and either get sponsored or donate the money they would have spent on alcohol to the charity. Sapphire Living Space, based in Topsham, celebrated their first Birthday last Friday evening with style and were joined by special guests Michael Caines and Naomi Cleaver and over 100 guests.

Celebrations included a live band, drinks and canapés, while Michael Caines did some food demonstrations and then signed copies of his new book.
