Disabled Facilities Grants are available from Exeter City Council for those who cannot use their homes freely or safely.

People who are registered or could be registered disabled can apply for grants to adapt their properties.

Grants are also available for works including widening doors, installing ramps or bathroom adaptions.

Did you know that one in five people in the UK is living with a disability? And of those people, 80% have a hidden disability. This means that they do not use any kind of aids such as a wheelchair or white cane.

Those living with hidden disabilities may come up against difficult situations while they are out and about. It’s easy for outsiders to jump to conclusions when they see someone with no visible disability park in a disabled spot or take up a priority seat on public transport.

A big week is in the planning as CEDA launch the Impossible Arts festival taking place from Easter Monday.

CEDA is a registered charity working with disabled adults and young people across Devon, providing learning, social and cultural experiences.

Exeter based charity CEDA (Community, Equality, Disability Action) is the latest South West organisation launching a new ‘go green’ initiative, raising awareness of small changes that can be made to help protect our planet.

CEDA delivers education and social opportunities with disabled people and works with over 150 individuals each week. The charity employs 90 staff and volunteers each of whom are being encouraged to make small changes one step at a time.

Members of Devon based disability charity CEDA gathered at the charities base in Exeter to celebrate the arrival of their new accessible minibus. CEDA users, charity supporters, fundraisers and members of the staff team gathered to witness the parents of former CEDA user Greg Hurford cut the ribbon to mark the official launch of the new minibus. CEDA CEO Renata Colley said: “We are all thrilled with the new minibus – it’s going to make enabling our users to access our many services easier and more reliable. It will give us much more freedom.”
