Northern Ballet’s original pioneering ballet for children, Ugly Duckling, is to return to stages across the country with an extensive tour throughout spring 2018. The production will run from May to June 2018, visiting more than 20 theatres. Based on the famous Hans Christian Andersen fairytale, Ugly Duckling tells the story of a lonely duckling, ignored by those around her who think she is too ugly to fit in. People whose lives have been affected by dementia have worked with well-known professional artists to create insightful images and poems that capture some of their experiences, to form a new book.

The project involved people with dementia and their partners who are part of Age UK Exeter’s Budding Friends project and who spend time together on the charity’s allotment or at a local art studio. Daytime road closures planned on Teign Valley Road

Work to stabilise the embankment on parts of the Teign Valley Road will require further daytime road closures over the next fortnight.

A series of road closures on the stretch of the B3193 south of the Teign Valley Golf Club will be needed on Wednesday (1 November), Thursday (2 November), Friday (3 November) and Monday 6 November. Author, Celia Moore from Longdown has released her debut novel Fox Halt Farm which her friends have dubbed ‘Poldark on a Farm.’

Devon builds for bees

The winners of the ‘Build for Bees’ competition, which encouraged Devon’s residents to build the biggest and best bug hotels for pollinators, have been decided.

There was heavy competition, with lots of creative and well-designed entries submitted from schools, community groups, individuals and families.

Niquita Potter, of East Budleigh, won the ‘best individual build’ category, while Friends of the Byes, a community nature group in Sidmouth, won the best community group build.

Nun's Cross Path backed by Dartmoor Walking Festival

Following the success of Dartmoor Walking Festival 2017, Moorland Guides have generously donated £500 of the proceeds to the National Park's Donate for Dartmoor scheme.
