Applications are now open for a new course giving people the chance to become a key part of a hospital operating team.

The RD&E and other NHS partners in Devon and Cornwall have teamed up with Birmingham City University to launch a two-year Operating Department Practitioner (ODP) course.

ODPs are a crucial part of the operating department team, working with surgeons, anaesthetists and nurses to ensure that surgery is as safe and effective as possible, providing a high standard of care to patients throughout each stage of their operation.

Updated plans for Alma Bridge replacement scheme

Updated plans for a footbridge to replace Alma Bridge in Sidmouth will be presented to local town councillors on Monday (6 November).

Devon County Council had put forward proposals for a structure over the River Sid which included short flights of steps at either end of the bridge. This gained the support of Sidmouth Town Council earlier this year. Everlasting honour for city's wartime defenders

Members of the Polish ‘307’ nightfighter squadron which defended Exeter during the Second World War will be honoured with a plaque in Exeter Cathedral this month, as the city marks the 75th anniversary of the Exeter Blitz.
