Devon prepared for possible snow showers

Devon is braced for potential snow showers from the early hours of tomorrow morning (Wednesday 28 February) and motorists are being warned to be aware of possible disruption on the county’s roads.

Devon County Council, Highways England and Devon and Cornwall Police will be activating the Haldon/Telegraph Hill Plan overnight, deploying staff to the forward control point in the early hours with gritters, snow ploughs and tractors on hand, should they be needed, prior to the morning peak period.

Forecasts suggest that wintry shows could hit South Devon from midnight onwards...

Making art for charity

Exeter Junior School pupils are proud to contribute to Young Devon Art and raise money for charity in the process.

Pupils at the independent co-education school created pictures based on the theme 'What makes me happy' for the Young Devon Art Exhibition in aid of Cancer Research as part of the school's Art Club. They each donated £2 for the cancer charity alongside their artwork.

Nine members of Exeter Junior School's Art Club are celebrating the selection of their artwork to go on show at The Spanish Barn, Torre Abbey in Torquay throughout the weekend 3 - 4 March.

Be prepared is the message from Devon County Council as the county prepares for freezing conditions and the possibility of snow later this week.

Devon’s fleet of gritters treated around 2,000 miles of Devon’s primary and secondary salting routes yesterday (Sunday 25 February), and Devon’s snow warden volunteers have also been advised to be ready to salt their priority local routes and to keep an eye on weather forecasts.

Fireworks, dancing and music on campus to mark Chinese New Year

Thousands of people will mark Chinese New Year at the University of Exeter with fireworks, dancing and dragons.

Stalls illustrating Chinese traditions and crafts, delicious Chinese cuisine, martial arts demonstrations and performances will be on offer at the Streatham campus for the family-friendly celebrations on Sunday, March 4.

Exeter College students have won the prestigious Bristol Grammar School Model United Nations (MUN) best delegation title for the fourth year in a row, cementing the college’s reputation as one of the leading debating and diplomacy team in the South West.

Tickets for the 2018 Exeter Festival of South West Food & Drink have been released and are now available from the festival website.
