PEOPLE in Exeter are being encouraged to get January off to a great start by making a date to join Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life. As an added incentive, there’s 30% off entry fees* during January with the code RFL30. Choir raises over £4,000 for Exeter homeless charity

Members of Exeter Philharmonic Choir visited St Petrock's this week to present a cheque worth £4,086 to the charity which provides support, housing and prevention services for people who are homeless or vulnerably housed

The money was raised over two consecutive nights in December in the retiring collection at Exeter Cathedral following the Choir's annual carol services.

Get an insight into careers in the community at one of the RD&E Open Days in January

The Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust are holding three open days throughout January to encourage people to consider a career in the community.

With events taking place in Exmouth, Sidmouth and Tiverton, the RD&E is particularly looking for registered and unregistered nurses who are passionate about providing care to people in community hospitals as well as in people’s own homes.

Access to two city centre car parks is changing

Access to two city centre car parks is changing later this month to facilitate highways works necessary for the redevelopment of Exeter Bus Station.

From Thursday 24 January, vehicles will no longer be able to access the main Princesshay car park and the Princesshay 3 Broadwalk House car park from Paris Street.

Instead, access will be from Southernhay, via Magdalen Street and Southernhay West, or Western Way and Barnfield Road.

Vehicles will continue to be able to exit via Paris Street.

Access to Princesshay 2 Dix’s Field car park is unaffected.

Car parking charges set to increase in Exeter

Car parking charges in Exeter are set to rise by 10 per cent from April to support the City Council’s aim of reducing congestion, while helping it to balance its budget.

A report due to be discussed by councillors next week reveals that the council cannot support its aim of reducing congestion in the city centre without “reasonable and regular increases in tariffs”.
