In 2017 he trekked 1,150 miles from the tip of Cornwall to the most northerly point of the British mainland in memory of his son, Rian, from Exmouth, who died in 2016.
On Saturday (April 6) he will begin the same hike but in the opposite direction, leaving from John O’Groats and aiming to reach Land’s End on June 9.

Today (5th April 2019) has seen the official opening of Starcross and Cockwood’s £4.8 million flood defence scheme. The new coastal defences include four new flood gates, newly raised ground, slipway improvements and nearly 600 metres of raised and refurbished flood walls.

RD&E helipad will be upgraded to enable more patient landings
Work to upgrade the current helipad at the Royal Devon and Exeter NHS Foundation Trust will begin this month, thanks to a £1 million donation from the County Air Ambulance HELP Appeal.

Exeter’s night shelter supported 194 rough sleepers over the winter and will open up again in November thanks to the City Council securing extra funding.
The shelter – dubbed The Junction – is set to wind down at the end of the month as the weather improves and temperatures go up.
