Record number of schools legging it to Lapland to reduce carbon and congestion

A record number of schools across Devon are taking part in this year’s Leg it to Lapland challenge.

Starting on Monday (25 November), over 5,000 children from 20 primary schools in the county will be collecting ‘leg miles’ for every human powered journey they make to and from school, in a bid to be the first to travel 2,100 miles - the equivalent distance from Devon to Lapland. Walking, cycling and scooting all count towards the goal.

More than 130 travel agents attended Exeter Airport’s annual showcase travel trade event on Thursday (November 21) to learn more about the airport’s exciting 2020 season.

The event was held in partnership with Exeter-based Flybe, which will rebrand as Virgin Connect next year, and included representatives from sister company Virgin Atlantic and more than 20 tour operators.

Exeter Airport is offering 36 international and domestic routes for 2020 and recently announced that it had passed the one million passenger milestone in the last 12 months.

Independent estate agents 'reach for the sky' in aid of Balloons

Award-winning south west estate agents and chartered surveyors Whitton & Laing have generously donated £1,884 to Exeter-based ‘Balloons’, a charity who help support bereaved children and their families.

Managing coastlines in a changing climate will be discussed at the inaugural South West Coastal Change Conference next week (Tuesday 26 November).
