Missing Devon mum and son found dead in Lancashire

Police in Lancashire have launched a murder investigation after the bodies of a mother and baby from Devon were found at a home in Chorley, Lancashire.

Police said Angel Hudson, 26, and her son Arthur Hudson-Cardy, were discovered at a house on Princess Way in Euxton on Wednesday evening.

The case is being treated as a murder inquiry but police are not looking for anyone else.

Ms Hudson and her son went missing from their home in Teignmouth in 2013.

Police said the family had been informed.

Doreen Chippington is celebrating her 80th birthday in daring fashion with a family skydive at Dunkeswell Airfield on 30 August to raise money for her local church.

Her son Michael and grandsons Haddon and Toby are also jumping.

It is the second time that Doreen will have skydived, her first time was to celebrate her 70th birthday. However this time she aims to collect as much sponsorship as she can for her parish church of St Michael and All Angels in Awliscombe which needs to raise £70,000 for vital roof repairs after thieves stole the lead.

Join Newton Abbot Racecourse for an evening of racing on Thursday 21st August.

Racing will start at 5:25pm, with gates opening at 3:25pm. The last race will be at 8:00pm.

Tickets can be bought online until 5pm on Wednesday 20th August. Tickets are priced at £18 for the Paddock Enclosure and £12 for the Course Enclosure. There will also be tickets available to buy at the gate on the day.

New homes offer reduced heating bills

Construction of 20 new homes at three sites in Exeter is now well underway.

The accommodation at Bennett Square (Mincinglake) and Brookway (Whipton) is expected to be completed in spring 2015. Newport Road (Countess Wear) expected to be finished by summer 2015.

The new homes will be let to families in housing need. Three of the new houses will be built to full wheelchair accessible standards.

All of the homes are being built to the Passivhaus standard, meaning they will be cheaper to heat than a standard home and provide stable internal temperatures all year round...

New research commissioned by older people’s charity Anchor, has revealed the South West is a region in denial about ageing.

More South West residents are comfortable asking for a divorce than looking at the care options available in later life.

Despite it being a life changing decision, six out of ten people in the region (60%) have never thought about care options for later life and seven out of ten people (73%) who would trust someone else to make care decisions for them, haven’t talked about their care options with that person.

The Friends Life Tour of Britain has today (13 August) announced its biggest ever line-up of teams for next month’s race.

It has been confirmed that a record 120 riders from 20 squads will be competing for the Friends Life Yellow Jersey.

Devon County Council will host Stage Five of the race on Thursday 11 September. Starting at The Strand in Exmouth and finishing in Exeter High Street, the Devon Stage, sponsored by South West Highways Ltd, will cover 110miles (177km) of the county.
