Devon-based charity Rainbow Living is looking for 5,000 people to take a #RainbowSelfie to help raise £15,000 towards buying a third Rainbow House and provide a home for a group of young disabled adults.

#RainbowSelfie is part of the charity’s #ThirdRainbowHouse campaign which launches today (Tuesday 28 July).

It’s easy to get involved – simply embrace the ‘rainbow’ theme, take your #RainbowSelfie, share on social media, and nominate 3 friends to do the same.

Healthcare funding boost for city homeless

A joint bid to The Exeter Board to provide people who are homeless and vulnerably housed in the city with in-house healthcare support has been successful with an award of £9,000 being made to St Petrock’s, Exeter’s charity for people who are homeless and Gabriel House, the city’s hostel.

Vintage enthusiasts are set to flock to Exeter's Bike Shed Theatre for a packed day of activities and entertainment.

The Vintage Variety Day on Sunday, August 16, begins with a flashmob at 1pm in Princesshay, when singers, dancers and musicians, including members of the many Devon ukulele groups, will join cabaret star Tricity Vogue in a singalong of You Are My Sunshine. The gathering will then promenade through the Exeter streets to the Bike Shed Theatre, in time for the opening of the vintage fair at 2pm.

Aller Brake Road closure extended

Galliford Try, constructors of the new A380 South Devon Link Road, have announced that the temporary closure of the bottom of Aller Brake Road will be extended until Sunday 9 August.

The closure was necessary to tie-in the new Aller Link Road which will provide a two-way access route for residents towards Torquay.

Dawlish businesses join Riviera Line campaign

Thirty Dawlish businesses have joined the campaign ‘Get here on the Riviera Line’ launched by the Devon and Cornwall Rail Partnership’s Citizens’ Rail project. New maintenance boat for canal rangers

Rangers at Devon County Council’s Grand Western Canal are celebrating after receiving a new work boat donated by generous residents.

The Friends of the Grand Western Canal bought the new boat and outboard engine with money raised following the breaching of the Halberton embankment in 2012.

An Exeter language school has teamed up with a Torbay-based work placement company to forge a new partnership set to bring business benefits to both.
