Community fund available to Exeter groups

RGB Building Supplies is giving charities, groups and schools in the Exeter area one final chance to receive £1,000 worth of building materials before its Well Built Community Fund is relaunched again in April with a new look.

Over the past two years the builders merchant has donated £10,000 worth of products to a wide range of different organisations in the region as part of the Community Fund. Now they are inviting groups that need help to complete an outdoor project to come forward and explain how £1,000 worth of materials will help.

Exeter home visit pharmacy service showcased

AN innovative NHS service in Exeter which visits patients in their own homes to give advice and support around medication has been showcased at a top industry event at the ICC in Birmingham.

The Exeter cluster pharmacy team, managed by the Northern Devon Healthcare NHS Trust, was one of only 12 projects from across the country to be selected to exhibit at the NHS Providers Showcase.

Popcorn fun at The Beacon in Exeter

Exeter families enjoyed popcorn and hot chocolate at the first film night held at the city's newest community centre, The Beacon.

They sang carols around the Christmas tree before watching The Nativity Story at the centre in Beacon Lane, Beacon Heath.

The evening was organised by Isca Church.

ECOE share offer reaches £390,000

The Exeter Community Energy Share Offer, which has been running since November 7th, closed on Thursday, having reached an astonishing investment figure of £390,000.

ECOE have been raising funds via a community share offer to install solar panels on 9 community and commercial buildings across Exeter and East Devon. This Share Offer was due to run for only three weeks so investors can qualify for the Enterprise Investment Scheme (EIS) tax relief which closes for community energy organizations on Nov 29th. RISE‘n’Shine Festival for recovery community

A music and arts festival is being held to raise money for Devon’s first permanent recovery café. The RISE 'n' Shine Festival will take place on Friday 27th November from 6pm at Sidwells Street Methodist Church in Exeter. Proceeds will go towards setting up the county’s first permanent community café for people recovering from a drug or alcohol issue. Their latest show, Tis the season to be jolly! recalls, through verbatim memories and music, what Christmas was like in 1950's Britain. After the performance, there will be an opportunity for the audience to share their own memories of Christmas past.

Exe-Arts community creativity workshops

Exe-Arts, the community arts initiative set up by Superact's Patsy Lang, has reached the halfway milestone after a busy two months of fun creative workshops for all ages in art forms ranging from environmental sculpture and photography to graffiti art and experimental drawing.

As a culmination of the project, many of the pieces will be exhibited at the community festival on 12th December, which will also include a lantern parade and live performances. RGB Building Supplies is delighted to announce that Exeter Foyer is the latest beneficiary of their Well Built Community Fund. The centre will be receiving £1,000 worth of building materials from RGB’s Exeter branch enabling them to create a fitness room to help improve the health and wellbeing of the young people they support.

Over 30 community energy groups across the South West will come together next week in a coordinated Day of Action to urge the region's MPs to take urgent action to protect the future of community renewable energy projects.
