Bare heads for charity

Nine brave souls had their heads shaved at the Volunteer Inn in Ottery St Mary, raising over £2,000 for charity CLIC Sargent.

Michelle Broadhurst, Roger Strike, Ed Winson, Jason Osborne, Andy Broadhurst, Carl Creek, Andy Russell, Mark Oke and Fran Lea all offered up their locks to hairdresser Sandi Scott and her team. The fundraising was supplemented by a raffle and cake sale.

CLIC Sargent is the UK's leading charity for children and young people with cancer, and is one of the main charity's supported by the Volunteer Inn.

Exeter Family Friendly calls on other local businesses to raise vital funds for CLIC Sargent on Wig Wednesday

Staff at Exeter Family Friendly in Exeter are set to don colourful wigs at work to help raise money for CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.

Exeter Family, who recently won the Corporate Social Responsibility Award at the Exeter Business Awards, is taking part in Wig Wednesday on 22 May, which encourages schools, workplaces and groups of friends to wear a wig for a day and make a donation to CLIC Sargent.

Grand Western Canal to host charity walk

Families are being invited to the Grand Western Canal on Sunday 19 May to take part in the annual sponsored walk in aid of CLIC Sargent.

It is the 23rd year of the event in aid of CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people, and their families. The walk covers 10 miles of the Grand Western Canal towpath, from Tiverton Canal Basin to Burlescombe village hall.
