In the build up to World Cancer Day on February 4th, CLIC Sargent are encouraging locals to raise vital funds and awareness for CLIC Sargent, the UK’s leading cancer charity for children and young people.

When cancer strikes young lives CLIC Sargent helps families limit the damage cancer causes beyond their health.

Cancer affects every part of life, for the young person and their families – relationships, confidence, money, school, and work. CLIC Sargent care teams will fight tirelessly to minimize the damage it causes.

Currently in Exeter there are 24 young people going through active treatment all being supported by CLIC Sargent, excluding those families they are supporting post treatment.

Jordan Anderton, Fundraising Manager at CLIC Sargent, said: “This World Cancer Day, we want everyone to ‘band together’ behind children and young people by donating, wearing a Unity Band and spreading the word. These simple acts will help more young people thrive not just survive after their cancer diagnosis.”

Wear your Unity Band® on 4 February 2017, World Cancer Day, as a symbol of support and unity for everyone affected by cancer.

You can get your bands from the CLIC Sargent charity Shop in Exeter, St Thomas Centre or Exmouth, 17-18 Strand.

You can also get your Unity Band online for a suggested donation of £2, at www.clicsargent.org.uk/WorldCancerDay also on sale in Wetherspoons pubs and Wallis stores for a suggested donation of £2.

Jordan Anderton continued saying: “I’m really proud to wear my World Cancer Day band because CLIC Sargent have made such a difference to so many families across Devon.

"Buying a band and shouting about this campaign is such an easy way to make sure you can help other families. I hope everyone in from Exeter gets behind this!”

Today, 11 children and young people in the UK will hear the shocking news that they have cancer. When cancer strikes young lives we fight tirelessly to provide the financial, emotional and practical support they need. Supporters can also text ‘YOUNG LIVES’ to 70500 to donate £3. 100% to CLIC Sargent. Terms www.clicsargent.org.uk/donate-text
