Exeter Race for Life gets Pretty Muddy

Exeter women are being urged to fight dirty when it comes to conquering cancer - by signing up now for an exciting new event from Cancer Research UK’s Race for Life.

The city has been chosen to host one of just two Race for Life Pretty Muddy events taking place in the South West this summer.

Pretty Muddy is a women-only, non-competitive 5k obstacle course – with added mud. It will take place for the first time in Exeter at Westpoint Arena on Saturday, July 25.

Exeter City 1 Burton Albion 1: Match report

Exeter City and Burton Albion played out a 1-1 draw at St James Park, with both goals coming after the break.

The remaining tickets from the September general sale for Rugby World Cup 2015 go back on sale today.

The sale of up to 300,000 tickets for 25 matches will take place in three stages, with priority access given to applicants who were unsuccessful in the ballot.

People are being asked what they think about the taxi provision in Exeter.

Exeter City Council is considering some significant changes in the way that the taxi trade is licensed across the city. The number of hackney carriage licences (the cabs which people hail from a rank) could be increased from the current limit of 66. Other measures could include:

  • introducing a distinctive colour scheme for Exeter’s cabs
  • making in-cab CCTV compulsory
  • setting stricter limits on emissions
  • Encouraging the use of electric vehicles

CCTV appeal over Exeter nightclub assault

Detectives investigating a serious assault in an Exeter nightclub have released CCTV images of potential witnesses they would like to speak to.

A fight broke out at the long bar in Club Rococo at around 6.30pm on Saturday 7 June 2014, resulting in several members of staff sustaining injuries.

One male member of staff suffered serious head and facial injuries after being assaulted. He fell to the floor before being kicked in the head and face.

Long serving former Exeter City Councillor, Yolonda Henson is being recommended for the Honorary position of Freeman of the City.

An extraordinary meeting of the Council will be held on Wednesday 15 October to consider the recommendation to bestow the freeman of the city honour on Yolonda in recognition of her unstinting duty of public service over a total of 32 years elected service on the City Council.
