Monday 14th December 2015, 13.00-14.00 in the Chapter House
The Pastime Players, an Exeter based amateur Reminiscence Theatre Company, is returning to the Cathedral's Chapter House.
Their latest show, Tis the season to be jolly! recalls, through verbatim memories and music, what Christmas was like in 1950's Britain. After the performance, there will be an opportunity for the audience to share their own memories of Christmas past.
Do join us for a seasonal session of nostalgia. Tea, coffee and mince pies will be provided. £5.
A popular city hotel is experiencing a record number of bookings from across Devon this Christmas.
The Mercure Exeter Southgate Hotel will be hosting a number of party nights over the Christmas period with a Roaring 20’s theme.
Currently, the hotel is expecting over 3,500 guests, almost double the amount of guests who attended the Moulin Rouge themed parties last year.
Guests will be greeted upon arrival with a complimentary drink followed by a three course festive dinner. The event will also include a disco, complete with a DJ and photo booth.
Do you have some handicraft, jewellery, artwork, ceramics, woodwork, textiles or festive food you’d like to sell?
Then book a table at a Christmas fair at Exeter’s new and exciting community centre on Saturday 5 December, 1pm-3pm.
“Come along to The Beacon in Beacon Lane,” said centre manager Richard Cummings. “This will be our first big public event and we want to welcome everyone, both stall holders and local people to come, have a look around, enjoy a fun, festive time, with stalls, refreshments, a visit from Santa and a local choir...
Tax exemption available to businesses for Christmas parties
While Christmas might still be two months away, many businesses will already be planning their annual celebration. ACCA (the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants) is determined to bring a little more seasonal cheer by reminding all businesses of the tax exemption available for annual parties.
Employers can claim a tax exemption providing the cost of the event, including VAT, does not exceed £150 per head. It is important to note that this is a tax exemption, not an allowance.
With Christmas just around the corner, there is an opportunity to support Hospiscare and find a bargain at the ‘Pre-Loved’ sale at Newton Abbot Racecourse on Saturday 14th November.

The ‘Pre-Loved’ sale is one of a number of fundraising events organised by Sylvia to raise money for the charity. She is also taking part in the Great Wall...
The board – launched less than three weeks ago ago – is proving “hot property”, the makers said today with a THIRD print run due to get underway later this week. And with just under two months to go until Yuletide, the board's makers reckon that by Christmas Eve the only boards around will be those on Santa's sleigh!
Dan Taylor, from the board’s makers Winning, Moves says: “We are now on our second print-run and a third one is poised.” Mr Taylor, Monopoly Development Director for Winning Moves UK - makers of the board under license from Hasbro - added: “The popularity of the board...

As she was saying this I realised – that’s exactly me. Now in my second year, I have only just discovered what I am sure will become one of my favourite shops in Exeter.
Hyde + Seek is the ultimate gift shop – I challenge anyone to find a better place in Exeter to buy your friends and family their birthday and Christmas presents. For £7.95 you can buy a book with a seemingly endless...
