19240 Shrouds of the Somme figures go on sale

The first shrouded figures in an astonishing grand-scale art installation in memory of those who fell on the first day of the Battle of the Somme have gone on sale.

Artist Rob Heard is creating 19,240 hand-stitched figurines to represent each man who died on that day, one hundred years ago, at the beginning of the notorious World War One battle.

For each one completed he crosses a name off a list of those who died and says their name out loud to remember them.

Elaine M Goodwin, internationally acclaimed and world renowned mosaic artist, is leaving her beloved City of Exeter after some forty years. She is moving to France to establish a larger studio and gallery.

Elaine started her creative path in Exeter in the 1970s where she studied sculpture and photography at Exeter College of Art & Design.

A newly curated exhibition showcasing a collection of artwork by rock legend Ronnie Wood will be unveiled at Castle Fine Art in Exeter on Friday 13th November 2015.

Ottery St Mary-based artist, Abi Whitlock, is celebrating the successful sale of her first artwork through online art marketplace, Artfinder, just days after she joined the site.

The 23 year old whose application to sell on the site was approved on Saturday 5 September, sold one of her hyper-real acrylic paintings, ‘Adrift’ to a customer in Illinois on Monday 7 September for the list price of £3,400.

Abi has only recently committed to her art full time, recently moving to Devon with family after graduating from catering college.

The works of an engineer turned professional artist who creates enchanting paintings inspired by the English countryside will be on display at an Exeter gallery this month.

Acclaimed painter Paul Corfield presented his charming new collection of land and seascapes at Castle Fine Art on Cathedral Yard on Saturday 25th July. The exhibition will be available to view for two weeks until Sunday 9th August.
