A wet summer’s day did nothing to dampen the spirits of one east Devon town which celebrated its annual Big Afternoon Tea in style - and mostly under cover.

Topsham residents held their first Big Afternoon Tea a year ago when lockdown meant the celebrations were confined to sitting outside your front door or in private gardens.

The inaugural celebration of NHS, Social Care and Frontline Workers’ Day is set to take place on 5 July 2021, with Freemasons leading the event.

The United Grand Lodge of England (UGLE), the governing body for Freemasons, is inviting its 200,000 members to fly specially designed flags at 10am on 5 July, to celebrate this unique day dedicated to the NHS, social care and all those that work on the front line, who have saved so many lives during the pandemic. At 6:29pm today Sunday 4 July 2021 both Exmouth RNLI Lifeboats were tasked by H.M. Coastguard to search for a missing paddleboarder between Straight Point to east of Budleigh Salterton.

Exmouth RNLI Staff, Crew, volunteers and many friends paid their respects today to a popular and long serving volunteer on the day of his funeral.

Volunteers and crew members from Exmouth RNLI past and present, RNLI Staff together with many friends and acquaintances attended Exmouth Lifeboat Station in Queens Drive, Exmouth today Friday 2nd July 2021 to pay their respects to Don Hodgkinson, a long serving and well respected RNLI volunteer who died on 12 June after a short illness.
