Devon-based GripHero launches campaign to protect EV drivers at the charging point

Devon-based GripHero, the maker of the world’s only single-item release static-safe hand-protection dispenser, is drawing attention to the importance of protecting the health and wellbeing of EV customers who are prone to picking up contaminants and illness from recharging point handles.

The campaign follows research which reveals that charging points are teaming with germs that have been shown to be transferable to others seven times before leaving the skin.

The Wilbur & Niso Smith Foundation is delighted to announce that the winner of the 2021 Wilbur Smith Adventure Writing Prize, Best Published Novel, is Rachel Joyce for Miss Benson’s Beetle (Doubleday).

Pregnant women are being reassured by the NHS in Devon that having the COVID-19 vaccination is the best and safest way to protect them and their baby from the serious complications that can be caused by the virus.

Pregnant women with COVID-19 have a higher risk of intensive care admission than women of the same age who are not pregnant.

The risk of serious complications is low but a recent study of more than 340,000 births in England by the National Maternal and Perinatal Outcomes Audit found:

A team of cyclists will embark on their very own Tour de Devon this week to raise money for FORCE Cancer Charity.

FORCE and RD&E mark prostate cancer treatment milestone

FORCE Cancer Charity and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital’s Radiotherapy Department have celebrated a milestone in the treatment of prostate cancer.

The hospital has treated its 1,000th patient with high dose-rate brachytherapy, using equipment bought by FORCE.

Bill Collings received his therapy at the RD&E’s Wonford unit.

The treatment is also known as HDR brachytherapy or temporary brachytherapy.
