City’s 'Super Saver' Season Tickets on sale from Monday

Exeter City are thanking their supporters, both old and new, by announcing that season ticket prices for next season are being frozen at 2012/13 levels for those who purchase in the Super Saver period (which runs from 18th February 2013 to 6th April 2013), except for U12 tickets in the Stagecoach and Big Bank stands – although these still represent fantastic value, at less than £2.25 per game.

An adult season ticket for the Big Bank is just £289 – the equivalent of £12.57 per game – which is a saving of £102 on the gate price, while a Premium U12 season ticket in the Flybe stand...

Oscar Pistorius arrested after girlfriend shot dead

Today's news (15 February): South African Olympic and Paralympic star Oscar Pistorius has broken down in court sobbing today after prosecutors said they would pursue a "premeditated murder" charge over the death of his girlfriend.

An application for bail was postponed until next Tuesday and Mr Pistorius, 26, will remain in police custody not in prison as would normally be the case.

Update: Oscar Pistorius has been charged with the murder of his girlfriend and will appear in a Pretoria court on Friday, police have confirmed.

Fairport Convention coming to the Exeter Corn Exchange

Fairport Convention, the band credited with inventing folk-rock, will appear at Exeter Corn Exchange on Friday 8th March.

Fairport were formed in 1967 and previous and past members read like a who’s who of British folk music with names such as Richard Thompson, Sandy Denny, Dave Swarbrick and Ashley Hutchings all having been part of the band.

The present line-up includes original band member Simon Nicol on guitar and lead vocals. Dave Pegg, who has been part of the band for 34 unbroken years, is on bass and backing vocals and Ric Saunders who joined the band in 1985 plays...

Park Mark to be awarded to John Lewis Car Park

Specialists from Devon and Cornwall Police have worked closely with Exeter City Council to help secure a prestigious Park Mark award for its John Lewis car park, Exeter.

The John Lewis car park, formerly King William Street car park, reopened for business during September 2012 and has been successful in achieving the Park Mark Safer Parking accreditation for the first time. Previous attempts to secure the award were unsuccessful due to high crime figures and ongoing reports of anti-social behaviour.

Exmouth RNLI on Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmet

Exmouth RNLI members are due to make an appearance on the Hairy Bikers Everyday Gourmet programme tonight at 8pm on BBC Two.

Following a rescue of four young men on October 23 2011, volunteer crew members Mark Champion and Andy Williams both received an inscription of thanks from the Institution on Vellum for their roles. In-shore lifeboat helmsman, Roger Jackson who was awarded a bronze medal for gallantry for the same rescue, cooked a meal for 12 RNLI volunteers to thank them. Work begins on solar panels for City Council buildings

Work has begun on the installation of solar panels on Exeter City Council's buildings.

The 800 panels, which are currently being put up on two roofs of the Civic Centre and three other sites across Exeter, will have a capacity of about 200 kilowatts – that’s the equivalent of 50 standard domestic solar photovoltaic systems!

Police keen to trace heavy goods vehicle after A30 collision

Update: There is no change in the condition of the casualty.

Police have recovered the debris from the scene, which are two nearside mirrors from a heavy goods vehicle. The lorry will be a Volvo FL or FE, an LF DAY or a Renault 1818 or 2711. Police are appealing to anyone who has any information about this type of vehicle or to dealers who may have be asked to repair such damage to call them on 101 quoting log number 0696 120213.
