Ottery Church set to raise the roof with classical music
Ottery St Mary’s Parish Church is bringing music to the masses by hosting two concerts this month. This first event is free to attend and is in association with the Sidmouth Orchestra and is being held on Thursday 21 March, with the second event, organised by the Ottery Choral Society and Orchestra, scheduled for Saturday 23 March.
Gilbert Stephens LLP Solicitors, a Devon-based law firm, is sponsoring both events.
Liz Govier, Partner at the law firm, comments: “Last year there was a great turnout to the free lunchtime concert and we hope it will be just as popular this time around. Sidmouth Orchestra always put on a great performance and the catering on offer ensures it is a great afternoon out and we are really pleased to be supporting both of the forthcoming concerts at the Church.”
Sidmouth Orchestra will be performing music by Rossini, Dvořák, Holst and Bizet and it is recommended attendees arrive half an hour before the start of the concert.
The Ottery Choral Society and Orchestra will be performing Handel’s Israel in Egypt and Haydn’s Symphony no. 82 in C. and the concert starts at 7.30pm.
During the free lunchtime concert, refreshments will be available to purchase. For more information about the free lunchtime concert, please contact John Masters on 01404 851121.
