Rail enthusiasts are celebrating the announcement that Devon County Council has secured a grant of £49,600 from the Heritage Lottery Fund to improve access to its Railway Studies Collection.
Housed in the newly revamped Passmore Edwards Centre in Newton Abbot, the collection is the largest in the UK outside the National Railway Museum in York and is popular with researchers and historians across the world.

A chance for young athletes from all sports to get expert advice locally.
Excelsior will be providing four workshops in the afternoon for athletes from 13-19 years old who are interested in getting better for their sport.
It will include:
Physical competency assessment.
Eating in the real world.
Agility progressions.
How to get fit in 30 minutes.
The young athlete must be injury free and currently playing more than one sport. Parents and coaches are welcome to come along and observe and ask questions.
Local charity, Exeter Citizens Advice Bureau, is today warning that more than 400 low-income households with legal problems will be affected by legal aid reform. The reforms, which start at the beginning of April 2013, will see changes to the types of legal advice that are available through legal aid. Debt advice will no longer be eligible and almost all welfare benefits advice will be removed from the scope of legal aid.

A team from the Environment Agency is returning to the Grand Western Canal at Halberton today in a final attempt to rescue some of the remaining fish from a temporary lake that was created following last month's torrential rain.
