A series of special events for anyone interested in fostering continue next month, as Devon County Council continues its drive to recruit carers.
The Council is hosting a mixture of information events and stalls in a bid to encourage more people to consider becoming foster families and give those interested the chance to find out whether fostering would be suitable for them.
Devon has over 700 children in care, and just over 300 fostering households. However many current foster carers are approaching retirement age so the County Council needs to recruit new carers.
A 38-year-old woman from Ernesettle in Plymouth is due to appear before Plymouth Magistrates this morning (Tuesday 30 April 2013) charged with murder.
Angela Douglas was arrested during the evening of Sunday 28 April 2013 and detained at Crownhill Police Station.
The arrest was made after a 73-year-old Plymouth woman had been admitted to hospital. She died the following morning.
The suspect was detained and interviewed by detectives before being charged with the offence and detained at the police station pending her court appearance.

The website, Instagram.com, was down for a number of hours yesterday. The company have not released a statement but members of the internet hactivist group Anonymous claimed responsibility.

Earlier: One lane is closed with slow traffic on the A38 at Haldon Hill northbound in Kennford near the A380 Telegraph Hill junction due to an earlier lorry fire. The A380 Telegraph Hill in Kennford exit slip road is also closed and there are reports of queueing traffic northbound at Splatford Split, with congestion to the B3192 junction.
Two fire engines from Teignmouth station and water bowser from Exeter attended following reports of a lorry on fire at around 5am this morning.
Exeter will host a six-day celebration of new live performance work from the South West and beyond. Over 50 performances are to take place across the city at venues including Exeter Phoenix, The Bike Shed Theatre and The Cygnet Theatre as well as pub venues such as The Hourglass, The Globe and The Rusty Bike.
One of Exeter Phoenix’s highlights includes an inventive and quirky play, The Last Post , in which 17 audience members watch a nostalgic love story about the wonderful art of letter writing, in the back of a mobile sorting office in the Phoenix carpark.
