Atass crowned Exeter Business Games 2013 Champions

The Atass Group were crowned 2013 champions of the Exeter Business Games at the final event of the competition at Exeter Quayside on Friday 21 June.

Having won five events out of seven and with a 20 point lead over defending champions South West Water; Atass were in a very strong position going into the final.

Although Tozers Solicitors were the winners of the River Activities on Friday, Atass’s significant lead ensured their overall victory.

Tiverton and Honiton MP Neil Parish has secured a Westminster Hall debate in Parliament to discuss the scientific models used to measure the Carbon Footprint of the beef cattle and livestock sector as well as the environmental benefits of livestock farming.

The hour and a half debate is taking place on Wednesday 26 June in Westminster Hall and follows on from a four month inquiry coordinated by Neil Parish as chairman of the All-Party Parliamentary Group for Beef & Lamb.

Imaginative writing workshop at A la Ronde

Why not take advantage of a long summer evening by attending an imaginative writing workshop at A la Ronde?

The workshop, held from 5.30pm to 8.30pm on Thursday 4 July, is led by short story writer, Meredith Miller.

Fiction and fiction and non-fiction prose is the focus and Meredith hopes to use the unique history of the property as a starting point to inspire writers of all levels to develop their voice and use their imagination. Study reveals uncertainty over the benefits of feeding birds in winter

Wild bird populations are generally thought to benefit from being given additional food in winter, but our understanding of the effects of such food provision is incomplete. Paignton Zoo’s Great Gorillas Project is well under way. And for two local artists, the rivalry is personal.

Husband and wife artists Deborah Treliving and Malcolm Law are going head-to-head. Malcolm is creating Cool Ice Cream Bananas Gorilla for the Princesshay Shopping Centre in Exeter, while Deborah is painting Hippocampus Guttulatus Gorilla on behalf of Cavanna Homes.
