Everys team up with Sidmouth RFC

Everys Solicitors have teamed up with Sidmouth RFC as first team sponsors for the 2013/14 season.

The firm, which has an office in the High Street, has committed to continuing its sponsorship of the club and the Everys logo can be seen on the front of the first team shirts.

Sidmouth RFC was founded in 1884 and the club plays its home games at Blackmore in Heydons Lane. The first team plays in the South West One West league.

Everys’ head of commercial law Kate Stamp and fellow partner Giles Bowen met up with club chairman Mark Seward to mark this year’s sponsorship...

For Exeter-based artist and former national school-boy sportsman Stuart Wright, gorillas loom large. A plush gorilla toy has travelled everywhere with him since he was two years old. And now he has painted a three-dimensional life-sized gorilla – in his garage.

The huge gorilla sculpture is part of The Great Gorillas Project, celebrating Paignton Zoo’s 90th birthday, which comes to a climax with the grand charity auction on Wednesday 6th November.

Twenty pupils from Sidmouth Primary School had a go at taking Planning decisions when they visited East Devon District Council.

The seven-year-olds, with their teacher Mrs Hammond, spent a morning at EDDC’s Knowle headquarters learning about Planning and Development as part of a school topic. They received help and guidance from council staff and from Councillor Christine Drew, EDDC Member Champion for Children and Young People (see photo).

More Government funding needed to deal with flooding legacy in Devon

The impact of last year’s major flooding in Devon will be felt for the next four years, Devon County Council’s Cabinet heard today (Wed 9 Oct) as further calls were made for additional Government funding for roads.

Councillors have agreed proposals to deal with the legacy left by the major flood events in 2012/13, in which Devon’s highways sustained almost £18 million of damage.
