Police find body in search for missing man

Police searching for missing Honiton man, Damian Hart, have found a body near Feniton.

The body was found in a rural outbuilding near Feniton at around 10:40am on Tuesday (April 8).

Police are not treating the death as suspicious and a file is being prepared on behalf of HM Cornoner.

Mr Hart, 38, was reported missing by a family member on Saturday afternoon after going out to a local pub in Feniton at around 8pm on the Friday night.

Charity receives boost from cruise company

One of the region’s top wildlife charities, Devon Wildlife Trust, has been celebrating this week after receiving a £800 cash boost from Exmouth-based company Stuart Line Cruises.

The money has been raised through the generous donations of passengers on the company’s Guided Bird Watching Cruises. Church Leaders visit Food Rescue Project

Initiated by the Archbishop of Canterbury and Cardinal Archbishop of Westminster, bishops across the country have been encouraged this week to pray for and visit community projects which address growing poverty in Britain.

As a response to this the Bishop of Crediton, Rt Revd Nick McKinnel, and Chair of the Methodist District, Revd Pete Pillinger, visited the Exeter hub of the Devon and Cornwall Food Association (DCFA) on 7 April.

Teignbridge considers waste changes

Residents could benefit from weekly food waste and recycling collection services under plans being considered by Teignbridge Council.

Teignbridge’s Executive is looking at proposals to change its current service, replacing it with easier, more frequent food waste and recycling collections.

This proposed ‘best affordable’ scheme has been designed to keep Teignbridge at the forefront of recycling in Devon while ensuring residents have a fair, simple system that encourages them to reduce, reuse and recycle.

Domestic Violence Reports Rise

Police in Devon have seen a significant rise in the reporting of Domestic violence offences in new figures announced today.

The rise in domestic violence reports, of 22.8% or 886 more reports on the previous year, follows from an effort by officers to encourage victims of domestic violence to report abuse.

While potentially a sign that this effort has been successful police have cautioned that, while these figures are only one indication of how the Force is doing and overall figures rarely show the true picture.

Campaign launches to find families for overlooked children in care

A campaign, specifically to find families for local children who have been waiting the longest to be adopted, is launching across the south west this month.

Family for Me (FFM), which is part of south west adoption agency Families for Children, hopes to find parents for these children as soon as possible. Their wait may have been because they are older, part of a sibling group, have specialist needs, or are of mixed heritage.
