A new exhibition will be on display from Thursday 8 to Wednesday 21 May featuring the work of a well-known local Exmouth artist at A la Ronde, the National Trust property near Exmouth.

‘Times and Seasons’ by John Onley is a series of paintings based on landscape and townscape studies at home and abroad worked in pastel, acrylics and mixed medias. Critically acclaimed play to tour the West Country

From Common Players, in association with Exeter Northcott Theatre, a new production of Jez Butterworth’s critically acclaimed play, Jerusalem, will tour the WestCountry in May and June. The House Clearance team at Hospiscare in Exeter has won the Most Inventive Hospice Retail Initiative award for its work generating new income and also helping raise public awareness about the support the hospice offers bereaved families.

Reef decline food fears

If coral reef health continues to decline, reefs of the future may not be able to support the food demands and livelihoods of millions of people living in the coastal tropics, according to new research from the Universities of Exeter and Queensland.

The findings, to be reported in the journal Current Biology on 5 May, are based on a study of Caribbean coral reefs and their ability to support reef fisheries.

Bicton College Principal David Henley greeted delegates in his home this week, welcoming them from Uganda, Kenya and Tanzania as part of Bicton Overseas Agricultural Trust’s latest intake.

When Sarah Henderson was diagnosed with severe bronchiectasis in December 2013 little did she realise that months later she'd be running a half marathon.

Earlier this year, things took a turn for the worst when her lungs became colonised by the superbug Pseudomonas Aeruginosa which resulted in several admissions to hospital and means she now has to take antibiotics every day to keep the bacteria at a low level.

A Devon man will be taking part in the Mongol Rally 2014 this summer, driving more than 10,000 miles with a friend in a donated car.

Building surveyors Matthew Wyon-Brown from Exmouth, and his friend Mark Wellbelove from West Sussex, will be raising money for the British Heart Foundation, Devon Freewheelers and Cool Earth charities.

The ‘Hearty Boys’ will be using a 1988 Suzuki SJ413 for the unsupported journey to Ulaanbaatar, the capital of Mongolia.
