Collision closes Alphington Road

Update 12.00: Alphington Road has been reopened.

Alphington Road in Exeter is currently closed following a collision between a lorry and a car.

Emergency crews are on the scene.

The collision happened at around 11am.

The road is closed between Marsh Barton Road and Cowick Street. Traffic is queueing in both directions.

Seaton Jurassic's lottery bonus

Seaton Jurassic, the new exciting visitor attraction for East Devon, has secured another huge funding boost with today’s announcement of the award of more than £620,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund.

The Exeter Lions Club are making it easier for people to return their NHS crutches, walking sticks and frames to the Royal Devon & Exeter Hospital when they are back on their feet. Their campaign – Let the Lions do the leg work – has seen thousands of pounds worth of NHS walking aid equipment safely returned by Lions volunteers since its launch in 2011. Clarice celebrates her 100th birthday

Clarice Sampson celebrated her 100th birthday on Monday 23 June with a party for her family and friends at the Fisherman’s Cot, Bickleigh.

Clarice was born in Brixham, and was brought up on a farm. In the 1930s she was a trainee nurse at Brixham Hospital and the Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital.

She was married to her late husband Laurence for over 60 years. The couple lived at North Tawton for 25 years, then moved to Cheldon, near Chumleigh and then on to Crediton.

Clarice is now a resident at Kenwyn Residential Home in Crediton. She has a son, Michael, a daughter,...

A new poll conducted by ICM Research out today finds 72% of young people questioned in the South West want more employers to offer them work experience. Furthermore, nearly half (44%) of those polled say they would like the chance to show a potential employer what they can do by doing work experience with them, rather than just selling their skills on an application form or CV.
